Location

 

Asunción was founded as a fort on August 15, 1537 soon became the center from where the conquerors departed to seek gold and silver from Al

to Peru. It is also known as "Mother of Cities" because it was from here that others expeditions departed for the second foundation of Buenos Aires and other population centers.

 

Being the capital of Paraguay, is set on "seven hills", although its height above sea level does not go over the 120 meters and its area covers 117 km2. Its population according to the last census is of 512,000 habitants, although outlying cities (Gran Asunción) it is above a million and a half souls.
